Protective Relays, Measurement and Control
The Network Protection and Automation Guide, known previously as the Protective Relays Application Guide, has been the go-to reference for protection engineers and technicians since 1966. In 2011, Alstom leveraged its expert team at the St Leonards Centre of Excellence in Stafford, UK, to release an updated edition.
New chapters address topics like system integrity protection, remedial action schemes, phasor measurements, and wide-area schemes. They also provide detailed information on digital substations, including IEC 61850, Ethernet station bus, GOOSE, process bus, and precision time synchronization.
Progress in protection and control application engineering has enabled the authors to investigate and incorporate new techniques and philosophies into this edition, while maintaining vendor independence. We remain committed to providing a genuine, unbiased reference textbook.
This book serves as a summary of the Application and Protection of Power Systems (APPS) training course, an intensive program that Alstom, along with its predecessor firms in Stafford, has conducted for more than 50 years.
